We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the significant role that "Ricky" - Am/C CH Afterhours Color of the Wind, Am/C ROM (Am/C CH Gambit's Freeze Frame, ROM x Afterhours Risque, ROM) and his breeders, Carole Stanley and Darci Brown, have made for us. To say that we would not be in existence without the contributions of Ricky would be an understatement. When our family first considered the possibility of breeding and showing, we did quite a bit of research, calling/e-mailing breeders, speaking with veterinarians, and researching the different collie lines on the internet. We were drawn in particular to the collies of Susan Minard, of Prairiepine Collies, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, and our journey began. Susan had earlier had the pleasure of having "Ricky" come to visit at her home in Canada. Ricky not only finished his Canadian title while staying with Susan, but he also left an indelible mark on all of the Prairiepine collies to follow, earning his Canadian ROM in the process. It was this family of collies that simply took my breath away. It was love at first sight and Ricky was the common thread through all of my very favorites. Since that time, I have been fortunate to meet Ricky and Carole and have learned to appreciate so very many more things about them. I am incredibly proud to have him so well represented in our pedigrees. Other than our very first two collies that we had purchased as pets, to be exactly that - pets, every collie we have had since has had Ricky represented in their pedigrees. He to me represents what a lovely collie should be - elegant, intelligent, sweet, gentle, and sound, with a regal carriage draped in his royal blue robe. Ricky will be lovingly remembered and terribly missed. |
